About this website

Where the text and images come from, how differing accounts are handled, and what still needs work.

Fact and interpretation

The texts draw on historical studies, institutional publications and contemporary documents. Links below the paragraphs lead to the sources used. Where accounts give different dates or totals, we explain the difference.

Illustrations and archival sources

Images labeled as AI are contemporary imagined scenes inspired by the exhibition. They do not document a specific event, place or person. Archival photographs and scans have separate provenance and rights records.

Two language versions

Polish is the editorial language. The English version presents the same events and material. Source titles remain in their original language, and proper names retain their historical context.

What still requires work

GIS boundary layers, commune-level plebiscite data, document transcription, fuller biographies and then-and-now pairs await further research. They are not presented as completed. This is an independent exhibition, not an official portal of the cited institutions.

Privacy and accessibility

No analytics, advertising or tracking has been added. Search runs locally in the browser. External source links open the relevant institutions’ pages. The map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives browser requests including the IP address. The settlement list also works without map tiles, and sources and articles are accessible without animation.
